💡 Why I Started OTB Optimisations

A straight-talking story about efficiency, curiosity, and why I decided to help small businesses save time through smart automation.

I spent nearly 20 years working in a big corporate business where the focus was always on making things run smoother. There were whole teams dedicated to cutting down wasted time and improving efficiency — it was just part of the culture.

Then I moved into a smaller trade business with around ten people, where the focus, quite rightly, was on getting the job done to a high standard. The owner was an engineer turned business owner, but deep down still an engineer — and like a lot of engineers, the admin side was just something that had to be done. So he found a way that worked and stuck with it.

Engineers are brilliant at making engineering more efficient. With my background, I naturally look for ways to make admin and processes more efficient instead. That’s what I know — and it’s what I can see instantly when something could be done better.

Most people don’t realise how much time they’re losing every week doing things manually, because they’ve just always done it that way.

I’ve always been curious about technology, especially AI, and how it can actually help people in real, practical ways. I’ve spent thousands of hours learning, watching, testing, and building with AI — so you don’t have to.

What’s changed recently is that I’ve gone from just understanding what can be built… to actually being able to build it myself. That’s what led to OTB Optimisations.

Now, I use AI and coding to automate the things that take up your time — the contracts, reports, and documents that always need rewording, reformatting, or copying. I build forms and systems that take your info once and then spit out the finished document automatically — properly formatted, branded, and ready to send.
